S@W site visit
On Monday 29th of January 2018, a group of transition years attended the County Council offices in Tralee. This is part of the skills at work programme which they are participating in, during their business classes.
Firstly, the students had a talk in the conference room with the Cathaoirleach, John Sheehan explaining his role. Next they were introduced to, John Kennelly (senior engineer water services), Joanna Maher (finance), Owen O' Shea (press officer), and John O'Sullivan (human resourcjs). Each person talked about their third level education, their career pathway and their present role in the County Council.
Afterwards the staff of the County Council sat with different transition year groups to allow students time to ask questions. The staff were extremely helpful and mentored the students as well as answering any questions thy had. The site visit was very wothwhile, we also agreed that a career workshop in transition year would be very useful before the year end. The skills at work team agreed to help us with this event in the future.
